It occurred to me that people that are interested in OpenAI or ChatGPT are under the impression that Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, is the “tech genius” that made OpenAI’s LLM (which runs ChatGPT) a reality. If not the genius, then at least possessing a very high skill in LLMs and AI. None of these two things about Sam Altman are true.
Sam Altman is a co-founder and co-investor, not a savant enriching the world with a tech marvel for the good of humanity. Maybe because he dresses and looks like a typical tech guy.
His background is in social media and raising money, but absolutely not in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) or large language models (LLM).
I don’t doubt that Altman brought value to OpenAI, but I think there lies no credibility in OpenAI’s stated mission “ensuring that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity.”
Elon Musk was a cofounder and investor, and many dismiss him claiming “Musk doesn’t know anything about AI, he’s no Sam Altman.”
In my opinion, Sam Altman has turned into a blatant hype machine. He showed a sudden change in behaviour shortly after the release of OpenAI’s GPT4 LLM-model, in 14 March 2023.
Anyway, so I wanted to see if ChatGPT had some “hardcoded” PR about Sam Altman that puts him on a pedestal. =)
I ran a prompt about Sam Altman asking it for a critical perspective, for comparison I did the same for Elon Musk and Steve Jobs.
ChatGPT ignores request of criticism of Sam Altman
ChatGPT has no issues being critiquing Elon Musk
Well, look at that. ChatGPT will ignore request of criticism and make a fluff-piece about Sam Altman, but with Elon Musk it has not problems at all. =)
Anyone else seeing a looming population control with AI?
